My name is Jasmin Oya, and I am a writer based in Portland, OR originating from Philadelphia, PA. I am currently working with friends + family while building a literary + visual arts zine called Loose Cornrows. Cornrows is an experiential print and digital magazine that operates as an interdisciplinary capsule for afro-diasporic makers and writers. From the scalp to the braid we are raised by patterns of improvisation and jazz as literary design. Here we loosen monolithic grips on literary and visual crafts by intersecting them strand by strand. We are accepting fiction, poetry, non-fiction, prose and creative essays. Our submissions are open from July 1st-July21st. Please send materials to LooseCornrows@gmail.com with your piece title + genre in subject line, name & pronouns in the body email. If you have any questions, comments or concerns you may direct them to me at JasminOya@gmail.com. Thank you!
